ABOUT

Brice Gelot is a french self-taught photographer who has gained a strong reputation for his raw and powerful photography, known for his photojournalism, documenting the street culture and tattoo community.

Born and raised in Dijon, he started in 2004 using a Canon A1 learning film photography with the urge to share stories to show various perspectives and ways of seeing the world. Beginning his career as photographer for his local skateshop, working with pro team and brands, his passion for photography developed while traveling the world.

As a photojournalist, his main objective is to capture the essence of street life through his unique and distinct vision. He strive to showcase the gritty reality of life on the streets, shedding light on people on the margins of society, gang members, homeless and drugs addict. Through his work, he seek to inspire empathy and understanding for those who often go unnoticed or ignored, and aim to challenge the viewer's preconceptions and highlight the resilience and strength of those who persevere in the face of adversity.

Ultimately, his passion for photojournalism is driven by the belief that images can be a powerful tool for social change and can facilitate important conversations about the most pressing issues of our time to raise awareness and educate. He want to help by breaking down stereotypes and promote better understanding, but also reflect on important issues such as poverty, street violence, humanitarian crisis, social justice and human rights.

Brice's photographs have been featured in magazines, press agency and art galleries across the world, gaining him a reputation as one of a leading street photographers.

In addition he also work on other long term project featuring portraits of famous artists, celebrities, musicians and the beauty of women in collaboration with Playboy.

In his role as a photojournalist, he deeply values freedom of speech, actively engages in the field, and advocates for taking assertive positions.

“I always been influenced by all of this culture. I like to show the world as it is, for me nothing’s more interesting than reality. So from rough areas that never sees tourists to poor neighbourhoods where I can find chaos, I find beauty. I let the street speak, and I just document what I see…” - Brice Gelot
