‘SHOW ME YOUR HANDS’

This long term documentary is about atypical / tattooed hands, each of them tell stories, some people say the hand is the visible part of the brain, although tough and durable is one of the most sensitive places on the body, our hands are skilled communication tools.

For some many tattoos serve as rites of passage, marks of status and rank, symbols of religious and spiritual devotion, decorations for bravery, marks of fertility, pledges of love, amulets and talismans, protection, and as punishment, like the marks of outcasts, slaves and convicts. Today, people choose to be tattooed for artistic, cosmetic, sentimental/memorial, religious, or spiritual reasons, to symbolise their belonging to or identification with particular groups.
