RNST x BRICE GELOT

This collaboration with RNST brings together two creative practices rooted in urban culture, both originating from Dijon, France. RNST is street artist and sérigraffichiste whose work bridges graffiti, stencil, collage, and screen printing to explore social themes and contemporary visual languages. Beginning in the 1990s within alternative street scenes, RNST has continued to evolve across public space and studio expression, combining provocation and poetry in works that resonate beyond the gallery wall.

For this project, four original pieces were created directly in dialogue with one of Brice Gelot’s iconic photographs — the portrait of “Julianna and Nicole” taken in Los Angeles, Compton Area, USA — transforming this image into new material forms that reflect both artists’ shared sensibilities. Each original interprets the source photograph through RNST’s distinctive street-informed aesthetic, blending energy and meaning in compositions that feel both immediate and contemplative.

Within these compositions, magnolia flowers were intentionally chosen as a central element. They symbolize beauty, fragility, and endurance — qualities that resonate with both the subjects of the photograph and the artistic dialogue behind the work, adding a poetic layer to the visual narrative.

Alongside the original works on brushed metal plates, a limited edition run of prints was produced exclusively for this collaboration, allowing a broader audience to engage with the fusion of our artistic voices. The result is a meeting of perspectives — photography and urban art intersecting to expand the life of a single photograph into multiple visual dimensions, rooted in the shared creative heritage of our hometown.
